Fuzzy On The Details

This gorgeous Saturday morning I’m doing all I can to do as little as I can. In less than a couple of hours I’ll be going to work, so I’m trying to get the most (or least) out of my morning off. I was trying out a new strategy for getting sharp details in my macro photography. The strategy involves using live mode to zoom in and focus even better on the subject, which is probably old news to a lot of you. Anyway, this was working really well, but then everything started shaking. I’m not sure why, but I suspect it was due to the laundry machine spinning or something. It left me no choice but to pack up and call it good, because there was no way I could get away with the exposure time I needed.

 

Today’s picture is of the fuzzy needles of this very non specific cactus of the IKEA-variety. At some point I got a 3-pack of assorted little cacti because I wanted some plants in my apartment and needed something I for sure wouldn’t be able to kill by forgetting to water, or just going away for a while. So far it’s worked out really well, and they are all still alive.

#6 Ladder on old house.

To be honest with you I’m not really sure if I like today’s photo myself, or if I just convinced myself to like it because Bergen was a particular mixture of nasty cold rain and wind today and I thought my fingers would fall off if I stayed outside for much longer.

I was walking around Bryggen, and I found this really old worn down wooden building which didn’t even seem to fit in amongst the rest of them. The buildings in that area are very tall, very close together with bright red  or yellow colors, and some brown and white ones. This one however was only one story tall, and did not appear to have been painted at all (I’ll include a picture of it at the bottom of the page). But something about the look of old worn wood is very appealing to me, and I thought the ladder looked kind of cool hanging there at the front of the building.
